Hello Everyone,

I’m so honored to follow in the footsteps of one of SMCHA’s most accomplished Presidents, Cheryl Basin, as we head into a wonderful Spring with lots of activities and events this coming year. Please check out our 2016 Calendar of Events in this magazine, and keep updated at the website.

As a bit of background, I grew up on Wilmington Way in Redwood City and then Godetia Drive in Woodside. One of my fondest memories is taking riding lessons on Saturday mornings with Jack Melville at Canada Stables (now NCEFT). I was so in love with my lesson horse that I asked Mr.Melville if I could buy her, stating “I’ll give you good money,” not knowing what the heck that meant! Didn’t happen. My first horse was Nugget purchased from Buck Marsh for $250, saddle and bridle included. I rode every trail with Nugget and my black lab Sarge, at night, in the pouring rain, and over Highway 92 to Half Moon Bay. Many of you have also told me about your memories of this great horse community and the adventures you enjoyed. Let’s keep those adventures happening.

We will keep you informed and up-to-date with mailings and emails, so I hope to see you all soon…

Enjoy the Ride!
